polio cases in Khyber pukhtonkhwa province of pakistan were 142 at the end of 2010.its rising again.iam CSP in polio eradication programme living in above province.our district is polio free for last two year.name of my district is mardan. The problem is that we are in center and we are having polio cases in districts near to us like Nowshehra. As virus has no boundries,so we are at risk. This could be yes or no as the progress in Nigeria and India is real and provides reasons for optimism. However, Pakistan is set to do much worse this year than last and if progress can be sustained and capitalized on in India and Nigeria may well be the last remaining area of polio circulation in the world. However, the virus continues to circulate and taking the enormous positive steps in India and Nigeria from where they are to interruption and then eradication is not guaranteed and will require the continued hard work and energy of many people, organizations and governments. We must continue to focus on the places showing progress and renew efforts in those that are not doing as well as they could. There is progress but the final outcome remains to be secured.
